About Karen:

  • A professional information / instructional designer, educator, and lecturer.  I am a native of Illinois who followed my career to Georgia in 1987 to work for an international airline telecommunication company.
  • An experienced genealogy researcher with over 30 years of experience specializing in research methodology and techniques, census records, genealogy education, migration and mapping, problem-solving, researching using geography and maps, and web design.
  • Presenter of lectures at local genealogical societies, regional conferences, and webinars.
  • Avid amateur photographer and apply my photography skills to enhance my genealogy research, presentations, and toolkit.
  • Author of several articles for the Cobb County, Georgia Genealogical Society, Inc. “Family Tree Quarterly.”
  • Attendee at several FGS and NGS conferences to further my genealogy knowledge and research skills.
  • Active in the genealogical community currently serving as webmaster for the Cobb County, Georgia Genealogical Society, Inc. I have previously served the Cobb County, Georgia Genealogical Society as a Board Member, President, Membership Director, Newsletter Editor, and “Family Tree Quarterly” editor. I have also served the Georgia Genealogical Society as Program Director and Publications Director.
